Eye Spy: Oscar Nominees in Glasses

It’s Academy Awards season, and red carpet high fashion isn’t just about dresses and jewelry. We’re always keeping our eyes open for stylish eyewear on the red carpet, and we’ll be tuning in on Sunday, March 4, to see stars in glasses at the 90th Academy Award ceremony.

Oscar Nominees in Glasses: Margot Robbie

Coinciding with the 2018 Winter Olympics, this year’s film award season could not be more perfectly timed for the film I, Tonya, a dramedy biopic of infamous figure skater Tonya Harding. Margot Robbie has been nominated for her leading actress performance (she is also a producer on the film), and she’s been spotted in some pretty stylish eyewear as well, including two gorgeous pairs by Etnia Barcelona. The Le Marais Sun BR is a modified aviator-style pair of sunglasses with slightly rounder lenses than traditional aviators. Robbie was also spotted in a pair of WLA Africa 01, a modern, cat-eye pair of sunglasses that ooze old Hollywood glamour.

Oscar Nominees in Glasses: Meryl Streep

Perennial nominee Meryl Streep is up this year for her leading role in The Post, and as she’s been making the rounds on the awards circuit, she has been spotted in one of our very favorite brands—Lindberg. Streep wears a pair of Lindberg’s glasses from the Acetanium collection, a super-wearable marriage of titanium and acetate built for style and comfort—perfect for reading acceptance speeches.

Oscar Nominees in Glasses: Sam Rockwell

If you didn’t know him before, you know him now. Sam Rockwell, nominated for his supporting role in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” is the odds-on Oscar favorite after racking up every other major award from the Golden Globes to the BAFTA to the Screen Actors Guild. Rockwell has been spotted in retro-cool black frames by Oliver Peoples. The NDG is New York-inspired but is clearly bi-coastal.

Oscar Nominees in Glasses: Daisy Ridley

Daisy Ridley’s portrayal of Rey in Star Wars: The Last Jedi had everyone buzzing, but it’s the film’s technical team getting all of the Oscar love; the film is nominated for Visual Effects, Original Score, Sound Mixing, and Sound Editing. Ridley’s street style is as on-point as her red carpet aesthetic; here she is in Etnia Barcelona’s Mission District Sunnies–a fun and funky tortoiseshell with quirky-retro lines.
